Cork Quality and Floor Care
Currently there is no independent standard for cork flooring. Should you decide on cork please take the following points into consideration:
- Inspect the sample for uneven surfaces or any holes or dents in the sample, as any of these will indicate poor quality
- Compare different finishes applied by the manufacturers and ask what the guarantee is on the floor finish. Make sure the manufacturer is contactable.
- With a Floating or Click Lock cork floor make sure that the core of the plank is High Density Fibre (HDF) as this is superior to Medium Density Fibre Board (MDF)
- With floating floors an underlay is required to stop excessive moisture from beneath /li>
- If you prefer the cork tiles and know your sub-floor is prone to moisture in the rainy season then the floor needs to be sealed before installing the cork tiles.
